Beaumont Students Win 27 Awards

    Seventeen students from Beaumont School received 27 awards in the 34th Scholastic Art+ Writing Competition sponsored by the Cleveland Institute of Art (CIA). At the annual competition Beaumont students earned 5 Gold Keys, 5 Silver Keys and 16 Honorable Mentions for their work in drawing, painting, sculpture, graphic design and writing. Senior Johanna Tomsick received a Gold Key for her portfolio.
    Every year CIA receives nearly 2,000 pieces of art and writing submissions from 7th – 12th grade students throughout Cuyahoga County. The works receiving awards are on display at CIA’s Reinberger Gallery from January 21 through February 2, 2013.
    In addition to a Silver Key for a painting and three Gold Keys for two drawings and her portfolio, senior Johanna Tomsick is a nominee for the American Vision Award. Johanna and four other students are nominated to receive this award for the region. The award will be chosen by the National Committee in New York City and announced in mind-March. Johanna also received the Cleveland Institute of Art Recognition Award, a $10,000 scholarship upon acceptance and enrollment to the Institute.
    In addition to a Gold Key for her short story, junior Anna Libertin was nominated for the American Voices Award for our region. She will be considered along with four other local students by a National Committee in New York City. The Award will be announced in mid-March.
