Message from the Principal
Dear Parents and Friends of Beaumont,
It is with great excitement that I extend welcomes to our new and returning students and families. As usual, summer has flown by and the anticipation of the beginning of the 2013-2014 school year is increasing every day.
This will be the beginning of many weekly Principal Newsletters that will appear in your inbox every Thursday. It is my hope that you will find these weekly updates informative and valuable. Through discussions with parents, I understand that these weekly emails appear to be the most thorough and updated form of communication between school and home. Each week the update will include a message from me as well as an upcoming calendar of events that is shared by our Dean of Students, Mrs. Coreen Schaefer.
Athletic updates, information from our Mothers' Guild and Fathers' Club, department news and special announcements and recognitions of our students and staff will be highlighted and included throughout the year. I believe you will be amazed and surprised at the amount of good news we share with our families.
This form of weekly communication will allow you to be one step ahead of your daughter in receiving timely information! Too often we hear that one of our girls failed to share important information or deadlines with parents. Always check this weekly email for calendars, updates and announcements.
All parents should have received a back to school letter with your daughter's class schedule that was mailed earlier this month. If you did not receive your daughter's schedule with the letter please contact the school office. Schedules were held if the online Back To School forms were not completed or financial obligations were incomplete. Our new procedure for completing the back to school forms has been extremely successful and we thank you for completing them in a timely manner.
Teachers returned to school yesterday for their first day. We began with a faculty/staff retreat and will fill the remainder of days with professional development. We continue to focus on our school improvement goals and are concentrating on the Common Core initiatives that are being adopted by the state of Ohio.
We are excited to introduce many new faculty and staff members to our school community. A new position was created this year to help our staff implement the Common Core and provide more support to teachers with curriculum and instruction. With the addition of this Dean of Academics we change the title of our assistant principal to Dean of Students. Biographies of these new staff members are included in this newsletter. We are excited to welcome both Mrs. Schaefer and Mr. Beyer.
Additional new faculty members include Mrs. Nancy Muir and Mr. Martin Steward in the Theology Department, Mr. Simon Masters in the Science Department, Mr. Bo Mueller as our Cafeteria Manager and Chef and Mrs. Eileen McCann and Mrs. Mary Lynn Haldi in the Development Office. Mrs. Kristen LoPresti will be on leave for the first quarter after giving birth to a beautiful baby boy this week. Mom and baby are both doing great. Her long term substitute will be Ms. Anna Foti.
The first few weeks of our calendar are full. Please note that our freshmen orientation will take place on Tuesday, August 20 from 8:00 - 1:30 PM. All students will return on August 21. There will be a 1:30 dismissal on the 21 and 22. Our first full day will be Friday, August 23.
Don't forget to mark your calendars for the official Groundbreaking Ceremony that will kick off the addition of our new STEM building. You should have received a postcard with this announcement. It will take place on September 24 at 4:00 PM. We would love to have you share in this very exciting event. Sr. Gretchen and the Development Office have worked very hard over the past few years to raise funds to bring this new addition to Beaumont School. Your presence will greatly be appreciated.
I continue to grow in experience as principal as I enter my 4th year here. I look forward to another exciting and rewarding year at Beaumont. I am blessed to work with the most dedicated and committed teachers in town. Do not hesitate to call or email anyone on staff. We encourage communication and will do whatever we can to make your daughter's Beaumont experience the best ever!
