Parent Newsletter for April 25

Message from the Principal

Dear Parents and Friends of Beaumont,

Happy Thursday! It is hard to believe that the month of May will be upon us next week. Time is really speeding up for us here at Beaumont and our seniors have begun experiencing "senioritis." With all their excitement and anxiety they have remained focused in classes and are keeping up with projects and assignments. It won't be long before they take their final and begin their Project REAL experience beginning May 13th. Until then we are finding our weekends are getting as busy as our school days.

This Saturday, Beaumont will be sending a team of girls to the 3rd annual AWT RoboBots Competition. This AWT RoboBots competition showcases team-built, 15 pound combat robots that compete against each other "in battle." It is an exciting event to witness. Our girls' team participated last year and came home with the second place title. This year they promise to "bring home the gold!" I have seen their commitment and determination this year and truly believe they just might be able to do it.

This all day event will take place at Lakeland Community College in Kirkland. Doors open at 8:00 am and I am sure the girls would love the support of fellow Beaumonsters and friends. Stop by to see the excitement. More information can be found online at thinkmfg.com/robobots.

Weather permitting; our student council will be sponsoring the 3rd annual Powder Puff Football Game. Girls from Beaumont compete in a flag football game against girls from Magnificat High School. The girls' teams are coached by students from St. Edward and St. Ignatius High School. The event is being held to raise money for Gina's Journey. Gina, an alum from Beaumont, has battled cancer in her young life. She has created an organization that provides hats and scarfs for children and adults who have lost their hair due to chemotherapy treatments. Gina visited Beaumont School and spoke to our student body earlier in the school year.  This year's location is Beaumont School and the festivities begin at 1:00 pm. The last word I heard was that the St. Edward Trash Talkers will be performing at halftime. Their show is always a crowd-pleaser. Stop by and support these four high school's efforts to develop community and support a great cause.

I am off to the Mother Daughter Senior Farewell dinner this evening. I have stopped in the dining room a few times already to see how our Mothers' Guild members are progressing in the set up for this event. I always marvel at how our simple dining room can be transformed into an elegant dining experience for our girls and guests. The evening will begin with a prayer service in the chapel and end with a delicious dinner for all. I am sure it will be a special memory for all our girls. Events like this would not be possible without the help of parents who commit time and energy into these events. A special thank you is sent to all those underclassmen moms who will be helping out tonight. You are appreciated and it will be exciting when you are the senior mom!

As always, Beaumont is blessed,

Mary Whelan
