Message from the Principal
Dear Parents and Friends of Beaumont,
The first day jitters are behind us as we have officially completed two days of classes. As expected, our seniors arrived early to greet our new freshman and returning underclassman yesterday. Staff was on hand to direct traffic and provide Kleenex to the parents having a difficult time with separation!
The girls were anxious and eager to drop off belongings in their lockers before heading to the gym for the much anticipated "Welcome Back Assembly" planned by our student council members. Our school theme of "Meet Me at the Watering Hole" is based on the national Ursuline High School initiative of supporting the African Water Project during the 2012-2013 school year. A few of our student council officers attended the national convention this summer and brought back much information about this initiative. It is a perfect complement to our accreditation goal related to Social Justice Teaching. Student Council members introduced the class assignments that appeared to be anxiously anticipated and eagerly accepted. Ask your daughters about the details. I am sure they will share some interesting stories with you.
A special thank you to the parents who sent the emergency medical forms to school with your daughters this week. It is imperative that we have this information on file in case of emergency. If you have not returned this information your daughter received a hard copy of these forms that must be turned in tomorrow. Please be aware that your daughter must have these forms turned in to Mrs. Teeples in order to attend classes on Friday. Also, please make sure that all Back to School Forms have been completed on line or by hand and turned in as well. This process must be done yearly. Thanks for your help in this matter. Please mark your calendars to attend our Meet the Teacher Night on Thursday, August 30 at 6:45 pm. We will have copies of your daughter's schedule available for you when you arrive. We begin the night by breaking you into grade levels to hear pertinent information specific to your daughter's class. We follow those meetings with an opportunity to run through your daughter's schedule to meet teachers and hear about their classes. It is an important night you won't want to miss.
Tomorrow is our first All-School Liturgy. We will be introducing our new staff and installing our student council officers. The Mass is at 1:50 pm and we encourage all to attend.
Finally, thank you for the many acts of kindness and words of comfort that have been shared with me this week after the loss of my father on August 15th. Beaumont is a special place and the care and compassion expressed by staff, students and families has been comforting and healing. I truly am blessed to be surrounded by such a special community. Thanks for your powerful prayers and know that I will continue to thank God for your presence in my life.As always, Beaumont is blessed.
