Message from the Principal

Dear Parents and Friends of Beaumont,
It's already Thursday! I am not sure how that happened but I suspect there are a lot of tired students this week. Our calendar was overflowing this week with something going on every night this week. Though I am tired, I was thrilled to be a part of or witness each one of them. Monday we inducted 35 new members into our National Honor Society. These girls are part of an elite group of students being recognized for their scholarship, leadership, character and service. The requirements are stringent and our committee of teachers spent many hours reviewing applications. The evening ceremony was well attended and I am proud of current members who made the ceremony special for our new inductees.

Tuesday night we inducted the Class of 2016! Our freshmen are now officially members of Beaumont School. It's hard to believe that there were 165 freshmen classes before them. It is always nice to see them dressed in their formal uniforms. The skirts and sweaters look so clean and crisp! The entire ceremony was special. I particularly appreciated the remarks our upperclassmen shared with the freshmen. They surely kept the interest of our freshmen. They all stressed the importance of community, leadership, service, academics and self-confidence. I think Johanna Tomsick summed it up greatly when she said, "Remember, we may not be sisters by blood, but it is the common goals we share and the belief we have in the good of each other that call us to the bonds of sisterhood." Well said, Johanna. It makes me jealous that I am not an alumuna.

Yesterday Dr. Litteral's music students performed at the Piano Recital. I am always impressed with the performances. Many of the girls have never played in their lives, so to perform in front of a crowd and play for the first time it can be a bit overwhelming. Personally, I felt they all did a beautiful job and I give them credit for having the courage to step outside their comfort zone to entertain the audience. Another successful event!

Tonight our soccer and volleyball teams participate in sectional tournament games. The soccer game will be played at Denison Field at 4:00 pm. Our volleyball team will be playing at Garfield High School at 5:30 pm. We are thrilled to share in the excitement of these games. We encourage you to attend and cheer on our teams. If you can come, be sure to wear your Beaumont attire.

Hopefully you are aware that we will be wrapping up the first quarter next week. Monday and Tuesday are days of review and wrap ups! Please make sure your daughters are prepared for their finals. A good breakfast always helps. One last check on PowerSchool wouldn't hurt either!

Looking ahead, you might want to consider attending our fall production, "Taming of the Shrew." It is sure to be a great show. You can read more about it below.

Please pray for our girls during the next week. Finals can be a little stressful.

As always, Beaumont is blessed,

Mary Whelan
