Parent Newsletter for September 13, 2012

Message from the Principal

Dear Parents and Friends of Beaumont,

It has been another busy week at Beaumont. Thankfully it has cooled down a bit, as well. The girls seem well adjusted and we definitely see routines being established by them.Recovering from the lazy days of summer can often take longer than anticipated, but we think the girls are doing a great job staying focused on school and homework.

Hopefully, you are taking advantage of the ability to view your daughter's grades through PowerSchool. If you have lost your password or are having trouble accessing the site, please contact Sr. Adelaide in our Technology Department. She would be happy to provide you with passwords or answer any questions. Her email address is alandoll@beaumontschool.org.

This morning's Senior Parent College Breakfast and presentation was well attended. I can't begin to share how fortunate our young ladies are to have Ms. Mary Grimaldi as their college counselor. Not only is she totally committed and passionate about placing Beaumont students in colleges of their choice, she is also well respected in the college admissions world because of her knowledge and expertise in the area. She recently completed her three year term as president of the OACAC (Ohio Assoc. for College Admission Counselors). It didn't take long for colleges to request her presence on their boards of admission. She will now begin a three year term on Miami University of Ohio's Advisory Board. We are proud that she will be continuing her close involvement with colleges like this one. If you have any questions or concerns about the college process, don't hesitate to contact her at mgrimaldi@beaumontschool.org. She truly is the best at what she does.

Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on Thursday, September 27 from 4:00 pm - 7:30 pm. We are trying to find better ways to expedite the process this year, so we will be having parents sign up online to meet with their daughter's teachers. You will be receiving more information next week in regards to the actual steps necessary to complete the sign up process. Know that if you have any questions or concerns prior to the scheduled conference date you can call or email your daughter's teacher at any time. Emails and voice mails are checked daily so you should receive a call or reply within 24 hours of your contact. Be on the lookout for a postcard and more information in next week's Beaumont Newsletter regarding the sign up process.

As you are aware, we are always thinking of the safety of our students and staff. We continue to keep our school locked during the school day and after school. We were recently notified by the Cleveland Heights Police Department that a suspicious person was reported in the Shaker Lakes area. We take all of these reports seriously and continue to maintain high security in and around our school. We remind our girls not to open doors for strangers and contact any adult if they see or hear of anything suspicious. If your daughter walks or rides a bike to school, please remind her to be aware of her surroundings and try and travel in pairs. We have asked the Cleveland Heights police department to be visible during the day and especially during arrival and dismissal time when there is much more activity around the campus. If you have any concerns, don't hesitate to contact me or Denice Teeples, our Assistant Principal with your concerns.

I am looking forward to attending the Father Daughter Communion Breakfast that will take place this Sunday here at Beaumont School. I have been in contact with the Mothers' Guild members who have been planning this event. Past experience proves this is a great event for both girls and their dads. The registration deadline has been extended to tomorrow, September 14th.

Don't miss out on this great event. I hope to see you there.

As always, Beaumont is blessed,

Mary Whelan

Principal
