Message from the Principal

Dear parents and friends of Beaumont,

Happy New Year! It sure was crazy starting the new year with two snow days. Though many of us were anxious to get a routine developed again, most of us enjoyed the unexpected days off. It didn't take long for our students and teachers to realize that next week ends Quarter Two and that means finals on Wednesday and Thursday. The girls have been busily preparing for these finals by completing projects and assignments. The hallways are filled with science fair projects. I continue to marvel at the research and discovery that comes with our girls' projects. I often find myself lost in time as I read over the materials posted on these science boards. I must admit that there are a few projects "over my head" which actually impresses me beyond belief. Congratulations to our teachers and students that produce award winning projects. Many of these projects will be entered into numerous Science Fairs throughout the region. Some will even move on to the state level competitions. I encourage all of you to stop in and take a stroll down the hallways and see for yourself the quality of research, production and data collection that has taken place to get to this point. It is no wonder that Beaumont continues to produce top science fair awards in the city of Cleveland.

Next week's schedule will be altered because of final exams. Please check the school calendar below for next week's schedule. Start times for Wednesday and Thursday are 8:30am with dismissal times at 1:30 pm. There is no school for our girls on Friday as the teachers have a work day scheduled. As always, we encourage you to monitor your daughters study and sleep habits during finals. Also see that they come to school after eating a healthy breakfast. Studies show that proper sleep and a good breakfast truly do make a difference in academics.

As we look ahead to the last week of the month, please mark your calendar to attend a special liturgy here at Beaumont on Monday, January 27th. As we enter into Catholic Schools Week and also celebrate the Feast of St. Angela, we are fortunate to have Bishop Lennon as the celebrant of this Mass. The Bishop has made a conscious effort to celebrate a liturgy at each Catholic High School in the Diocese of Cleveland. He is also planning on meeting with a small number of our students before the liturgy as well as our Campus Minister and Guidance Counselors. He is truly interested in listening to high school students to better understand the needs of our youth. It should be an interesting discussion. Our girls do a fantastic job expressing themselves verbally and are comfortable sharing their thoughts and opinions. We will follow this morning liturgy with a small reception in the cafeteria. All are invited to attend this special Mass.

Finally, I encourage each of you to consider participating in this year's Corn Hole Tournament. It will be held on Saturday, January 25th here at Beaumont. Our Athletic Booster members have been busy planning this fun and entertaining event. I thoroughly enjoy this event every year and have put my team together for the big event. I would like to think I would be the team to beat, but you never know what talent is out there! It's all in fun and a great way to meet some new families. Call up some friends and encourage them to team up with you. There is more information below if you are interested in supporting Beaumont!

Again, Happy New Year and As always, Beaumont is blessed,

Mary Whelan
