Message from the Principal

What a difference a week makes. Last week at this time we were busily planning, and anxiously awaiting a return trip to Dayton for the Volleyball Final Four tournament. The atmosphere was intense and the girls were totally pumped up for this game. It was so impressive to be able to send two full busses of supporters to Dayton to cheer on our team.

Though the outcome was not what we had hoped for, the spirit of support, community and teamwork outweighed the loss. We are so proud of our team members, coaches and Athletic Department for giving 110% throughout the entire season. A special thank you and recognition to our newly formed Spirit Club who helped build enthusiasm and team spirit at games and in school. Their spirit has been contagious this year and this club has done wonderful things to promote much school spirit.

Talking of school spirit, the Spirit Clubhas been selling Candy Grams to faculty and staff to support the Cast and Crew of Godspell. Their final dress rehearsal was last night during our Open House and I had the opportunity to speak with the Woodard photographer who came to take pictures of the production. He told me he has photographed many high school plays and this was at the top of the list of any performance he has worked. I am confident that it will be a fantastic production. The cast and crew have worked endless hours and committed so much effort into this production. Their energy and passion are contagious. I encourage you to attend this production. I know you won't be disappointed. There is a link below to allow you to pre-purchase and select your seat prior to attending. I will be in the audience this evening and am truly excited to witness opening night. Please consider supporting our girls.

Thanks to all who attended the Parent Education Night. Sr. Gretchen and the board members were eager to share the good news of Beaumont with our families. Hopefully our guest speaker shared some insight into the social media arena thatour girls are part of. Some of the statistics were overwhelming. Anything we can do as educators and parents to keep abreast of the challenges of social media helps keep our girls in a healthy and safe place. I continue to ask our guidance counselors to share information about the positive and negative effects of social media with our girls during group guidance. Thanks for your part in educating and monitoring your daughter's use of social media.

I was unable to attend this year's Fathers' Club fundraiser because of a family wedding in Kentucky. I heard, though, that the Cadillac Luau was one of the best ever. I know it must have been festive since many of the decorations are still gracing our dining room and the teachers in attendance shared many fun stories. I am so grateful for the dedicationof the Fathers' Club volunteers and their officers, as well as their moderator, John Michael Langa. Without their willingness to give up time to meet and plan events like this, Beaumont School would not benefit. The group of gentlemen who make up the officers and committee chairs meet regularly at school and I often stop by their meetings on my way out. Though they work hard at planning events, they also network and have a good time together. If you are a dad looking for ways to get involved, this is a great group of men looking to include more members in their organization. Please consider joining in on their good times!

In the spirit of St. Angela and in conjunction with our mission statement, Beaumont School continues to reach out and support the needy. During the month of November our Social Justice and Service Club coordinates and collects food for the needy.Next Tuesday is the last day to bring in food donations for the St. Aloysius food pantry. Their need is great this year. Our faculty and staff have joined the cause and have donated 20 turkeys and over 200 pounds of potatoes to round out Beaumont's donations.

In light of the recent Philippine disaster, Beaumont would also like to show supportfor the many homeless and injured Philippines affected by Typhoon Haiyan. On Tuesday, Chef Bo will be serving a simple Spaghetti dinner during lunch and donating all proceeds to help provide food and shelter to those affected. The faculty and staff will also be sponsoring a bake sale that day to help raise additional funds. Please encourage your daughter to purchase a lunch or attend the bake sale to show support. It is one simple way we can keep them in our thoughts and prayers.

As we get closer to Thanksgiving I want to take the opportunity to express my gratitude and thanks for all you do for our students and our school.

As Always, Beaumont is Blessed.

Mary Whelan
