Message from the Principal

The last thing I did before going home last night was to head towards the theater to be entertained by our Piano I and II students at the annualrecital put on by our current piano students. I always look forward to this event; mostly because I am jealous that I never had the opportunity to take piano class during my high school years. Secondly, it always impresses me how much our girls can learn in just one quarter of classes. Some of these students come into Piano I, knowing nothing. I was able to watch the girls develop their skills as I would walk through the music room during their Block 3 class. Congratulations to all the fine musicians. I don't think I could have performed in front of a live audience like they did!

Sunday's Open House was a huge success. Over 60 of our Ambassadors showed up to give tours and educate our guests on the fine things that Beaumont offers to its students. Both Kaitlin Daly and Mary Durkalski did a great job organizing this event. Thanks to all the parents that assisted as well. You and your daughters are our best source of advertisement.

Thanks to all the families that have been sending in socks, tee shirts and personal care items for the Westside Catholic Center. The boxes are filling up quickly and I know that "Dogman" will be so excited to know that our families have made generous contributions to this great organization. It is not too late to send in donations if you haven't had a chance to do it yet.

On Wednesday, 44 students were inducted into the National Honor Society. These young women were recognized for their academic excellence, leadership, character and service. It is quite an accomplishment and we are so proud of each of them. A special thank you is extended to the moderator, Sr. Cheryl and the team of faculty and staff that reviewed each application that was submitted. The current members did a very nice job with the ceremony.

The crews that are working on our new STEM building have been very busy this week. The West Parking lot is totally gone. Trucks have been in and out of the lot removing the large pieces of cement that once formed our parking lot. Inside the building, temporary walls have been installed at the ends of the main classroom hallways. The stairs at the far end of the building are no longer accessible to our students. The temporary exit doors are for emergency use only. We will be doing a practice fire drill any day now to learn the new procedures for that end of the hall. The Cleveland Heights fire inspector addressed the teachers at our last faculty meeting on the procedures we will need to take in case of an emergency. We have been diligently covering all our bases with safety procedures.

Mark your calendar for our Parent Education Night that will take place on Tuesday, November 5 at
7:00 PM. We have invited a speaker to come and address the parents on relevant issues that young girls and parents face in today's world. You will also be given an update on the state of the school and the progress of our new STEM building. We have provided this education night for the past few years and have found that the information shared with parents has been appreciated and timely.

We strongly encourage all parents to attend. At the end of the evening you will be able to pick up your daughter's report card. As an incentive to attend, we will also be raffling off four - $50.00 tuition/Beaumont credits. Additional items such as vouchers for 10 Beaumont cookies will also be raffled off. Obviously these incentives are not the reason to attend, but they sure do make it a little bit sweeter! More information will follow in next week's newsletter.

Hopefully your daughters are preparing for final exams next week. Our freshman will be attending our Cocoa and Cram this afternoon with their Link Crew members. Hopefully this study time with upper classmen will alleviate some of the fears and concerns of their first set of final exams. Don't forget that you can contact any teacher, if you have questions or concerns.

As always, Beaumont is blessed,

Mary Whelan
