Message from the Principal

When I wrote last week's article I thought I wrapped up all the details of the end of the quarter. Much to my surprise, one of the most exciting parts to the end of Quarter 1 happened in the dining room at 1:35 pm. Nineteen teachers volunteered to help our new spirit club raise some funds to build up our Spirit Club. These teachers allowed students to throw pies in their faces in front of the student body. New teachers, old teachers, administrators, and staff were all participants. Even Sr. Martha Mooney got involved in the excitement. She appeared wearing a hooded poncho and shower cap while carrying a butterfly net! I am not sure if she expected to catch the pie in the net, but needless to say, she ended up wearing the pie on her face just like the other eighteen staff members. It was a great way to end the quarter and I think the staff had as much fun as the students. I think I hear rumblings of a repeat performance at the end of Quarter 2.

I talked with many of the girls and found that they enjoyed having a rest day on Friday. It appears that most of them were pleased with their performance on the final exams. It is too bad that the girls put more pressure on themselves than necessary when it comes to testing. Our teachers continue to stress to them that their constant effort throughout the entire quarter leads to success on their final exam, but some girls still demand more of themselves and over prepare for finals. We love their conscientious approach but wish we could help eliminate any unnecessary stress. I do think that the girls learn this over time and do leave Beaumont School understanding that balance. Your help in reinforcing these study habits truly make a difference.

Don't forget to mark your calendar for the upcoming Parent Education Night next Tuesday, November 5 at 7:00 PM. Both presentations will be helpful to you as a parent of a Beaumont student. The evening should conclude by 8:30 PM. We will be raffling off tuition credits, dining roomvouchers and one ticket to Beaumont's biggest fundraiser, the Gala at the end of the evening. Now that's a prize everyone would like to win.

We are excited that our Volleyball team's season is still going strong. There is a game tonight against Lake Catholic that we are encouraging all to attend. Our Spirit Club has done a great job building up excitement with our students. The game is at Stow-Munroe Falls High School and starts at 6:00 PM. I understand that many of our girls will be showing the spirit by dressing in costume. Please remind them that no masks are permitted at tournament games.

An All School Mass is scheduled for Friday, November 1 as we celebrate All Saints Day. The Mass will begin at 1:50 PM in the school gym. All parents are welcome to attend. We would love to share this celebration with you.

Finally, begin planning to attend our upcoming Fall Musical, Godspell. Our girls have done a wonderful job preparing and practicing for this production. The set will be phenomenal and I know the music will be outstanding. I look forward to our school productions every year. I marvel at the quality of performances that are produced by our young ladies.

As always, Beaumont is blessed,

Mary Whelan
